Anton Starodubtsev, Founder of Windows Factory
Business and engineering background from Sweden. In the Sydney market since 2011. More than 50 strata projects completed.
Anton Starodubtsev moved to Sydney from his Siberian hometown in 2003. He was surprised to find Sydney homes harder and more expensive to heat and cool than houses in Siberia, and the reason was the windows: single glazed aluminium frames that let heat, cold and noise straight through. Windows Factory grew out of that.
Engineering first
Anton has a business and engineering background from Sweden, where well-insulated, well-sealed windows are standard. That background shapes how Windows Factory works: every opening is measured and specified on its own, the glass is chosen for the orientation and the noise source, and installation is done by our own team rather than subcontractors. Under his direction the company became the only Sydney installer certified under the German Passive House standard.
Building the supply chain
Using his European connections, Anton also helped several Australian start-ups set up manufacturing with imported European components. Those businesses are now established suppliers, which lets Windows Factory choose the right product for each project rather than being tied to one factory.
Strata work
A large share of the work comes from strata buildings: committees and strata managers dealing with draughty, noisy, leaking windows across a whole block. The strata program is built around how those buildings make decisions, with itemised proposals for the AGM, staging to match the capital works fund, and installation planned around residents. Windows Factory has now completed more than 50 strata projects.
Customers mention him by name in their reviews:
- "Thanks Anton, Josh and team. Great job on installation of our new windows. All went to schedule and results are grand." Nigel Paul
- "Now we have double glazed windows, we can run the heater for an hour and it stays warm instead of leaking out the windows. Josh, Anton and the team have been a joy to work with." Scott Pearse
How the company works
A window is only as good as its seal and its installation. An expensive glass unit in a poorly fitted frame still lets in draughts and noise. That is why Windows Factory uses its own installers, supplies both uPVC and thermally broken aluminium, quotes both when a building asks, and puts the WERS rating for every window in the proposal, so committees can judge the product on evidence.
