Sydney's Only German Passive House Certified Installer
Passive House is the world's most rigorous voluntary standard for energy-efficient building. Windows Factory is certified to supply and install to it.
What Passive House certification means
Passive House (Passivhaus) is a German-developed building standard focused on radically reducing energy demand through airtightness, insulation and high-performance glazing. Windows and doors are one of the largest sources of heat loss in any home, so certified joinery is central to meeting the standard.
As the sole Sydney installer holding this certification, Windows Factory can specify and install window and door systems that genuinely meet Passive House thermal requirements - not just "energy efficient" marketing claims.
Why it matters, even if you're not building to full Passive House
- The same certified frames and glazing can be installed in any renovation or replacement project
- Meaningfully lower heating and cooling costs year-round
- Consistent internal temperatures, fewer cold spots near windows
- Supports 7-Star energy rating compliance for renovations and new builds
What a certified window actually has to deliver
Thermal performance
Passive House sets a demanding whole-window U-value target and requires the frame, glass and spacer to work as one system. Our profiles carry five to six insulating chambers and pair with warm-edge spacers and double or triple glazing to hit those figures rather than approach them.
Airtightness
Uncontrolled air leakage around joinery is one of the biggest hidden energy losses in a home. Certified installation detailing seals the window to the building fabric so conditioned air stays inside and draughts stay out.
Comfort and health
Warmer internal glass surfaces mean no cold radiant zone by the window, far less condensation, and a more stable, comfortable temperature in every room, which also reduces the damp conditions that mould needs to grow.
Certification, not marketing language
"Energy efficient" is used loosely across the window industry. Passive House certification is different: it is an independently defined standard with measurable criteria, and holding it means our specification and installation methods have been assessed against it. Windows Factory is the sole Sydney installer certified to supply and install to that standard.
Alongside it we hold HWI Certificates S.1 and S.2, a glazing licence, and full workers compensation and public liability cover. Every job is backed by a 10-year product warranty and a 6-year installation guarantee, so the performance is committed to in writing, not just described on a website.
