Why uPVC Outperforms Aluminium in a Sydney Climate
Aluminium is an excellent conductor of heat and cold - which is exactly the problem with an aluminium window frame. uPVC solves it.
The core problem with aluminium frames
Metal conducts thermal energy far more efficiently than plastic. An aluminium window frame becomes a direct bridge for heat to escape in winter and enter in summer, working against whatever insulation is in your walls and ceiling. Even "thermally broken" aluminium systems only partially interrupt that bridge.
uPVC (unplasticised polyvinyl chloride) is a poor conductor of heat by nature. Combined with a multi-chamber internal structure - five or six sealed air pockets inside the frame - it insulates the way a European home is expected to, all year round.

Why this matters more in Sydney than most places
Traffic and flight-path noise
Homes near main roads, rail corridors and Sydney's flight paths deal with constant low-frequency noise. The combination of a sealed multi-chamber frame and acoustic laminated glass is what actually brings that down, not the glass alone. We specify the glazing to the noise source, whether that is a busy arterial road or aircraft overhead.
Coastal salt air
From the Eastern Suburbs to the Northern Beaches, salt-laden air pits and corrodes untreated aluminium over time. uPVC does not corrode, so the frames hold their finish and seal in beachside and harbour-front homes where metal frames tend to degrade fastest.
Western Sydney heat
Suburbs west of the CBD routinely run several degrees hotter than the coast in summer. An insulated frame and the right Low-E glass keep that heat outside, so air conditioning works less and rooms hold a stable temperature through a 40-degree afternoon.
The frame is only half the result
A high-performance window will still underperform if it is measured, sealed or installed poorly. Every Windows Factory project is measured on site, manufactured to that exact opening from European profiles, and fitted by our own installers rather than subcontracted labour. Reveals are sealed correctly, old frames are removed cleanly, and the finished opening is checked for square operation and a weathertight seal before we leave.
That end-to-end control, from first measure to final adjustment, is the difference between a window that simply looks better and one that measurably changes how a room feels to live in.
