uPVC vs Aluminium Windows: Which Is Right for a Sydney Home?

Most Sydney homes built before the last decade were fitted with single glazed aluminium windows. They are cheap to produce and slim to look at, but the material itself is the problem: aluminium is an excellent conductor, so the frame carries heat straight through the wall line, into the house in summer and out of it in winter.
Where aluminium loses
Even a thermally broken aluminium frame only interrupts part of that bridge. Frame U-values start as low as 0.77 W/m2K, well below typical aluminium systems, and the frame stays close to room temperature so condensation and cold spots largely disappear.
