No sash, no hardware, no gap to seal - which makes a fixed window the best thermal and acoustic performer in the whole range, and the cheapest per square metre.
A fixed window is glass held directly in the frame with nothing that opens. That sounds like a limitation and it is, but it is also why fixed panes outperform every operable style on both heat and noise: there is simply no moving joint for either to exploit. They are also the least expensive way to buy glass, starting from $350 for a 900 x 600mm double glazed unit.

Where fixed glazing earns its place
Stairwells, hallways, high-level feature windows, and anywhere a view matters more than airflow. The most common use in our installs is as the large central pane of a composite window, flanked or topped by casements or awnings that do the ventilating - you get the big uninterrupted view and the required airflow without paying for hardware on every panel.
Ventilation planning
The building code sets minimum openable area per room, so a fixed window is a decision that has to be made for the room rather than for the opening. We work that out at the measure and will tell you plainly if a fixed pane you have asked for will leave a bedroom short.
Sightlines
Because there is no sash, the frame is narrower and the glass area for a given opening is larger. On a picture window facing a garden or water that difference is very visible.
